ENVIRONMENT: . . . . . . . . . . . The Playa
Burning Man takes place each year on a fossil lakebed 2 hours north of Reno in the Black Rock Desert, a National Preserve. This fossil lakebed, "The Playa", is parched and dusty during this time of year, allowing for dust storms and dust devils depnding upon winds and human topsoil disturbance, causing temporary seasonal erosion.
